Running as Independent
I chose to run as Independent to send the message that decisions to charge and/or prosecute will be based solely on an Independent analysis of the facts of each case and not a hidden political agenda. As a defense attorney, I encounter questionable charging decisions everyday. As State’s Attorney, I will bring transparency to the charging process.
Because I am running as an Independent and not affiliated with any party, there are only 2 ways I can be elected:
- Petition
- Write In
As a petition candidate, I was required to obtain 6150 signatures of registered voters who live in the County. I submitted over 7200 to the Board of Elections. The BOE rejected over 500 of those signatures not because to people who signed were not registered voters but because of, among other things, missing middle initials. Accordingly, the BOE Determined that I was 450 signatures short of the required 6150.
I am determined to see the race to the finish line to honor the 7200 people who signed my petition and continue to educate the citizens of Prince George’s County on this very important race. A trial attorney should run the State’s Attorney Office, not a politician.
